Back Acne Treatment Difficulties
When we think of acne most people think of face acne but body acne on the chest and back is very common. However the way in which we treat them differs and in this post I am going to discuss some of the difficulties when it comes to back acne treatment.
Acne on the back, or bacne as it is commonly known is often much more severe than facial acne and it tends to produce many nodules and cysts. The most severe form of back acne will sometimes result in deep cysts within the skin which will result in permanent scarring. In particularly severe cases the regular treatments may not be sufficient so we have to look towards stronger back acne treatments that are not suitable for the sensitive skin on our faces.
One of the major problems with back acne treatment is that the skin on the back is much thicker than on the face. This thick skin is covered in thousands of sebaceous glands which produce a lot of oil which leads to the acne breakouts and because the skin is so thick the cysts tend to be deep rooted.
Another difficulty with back acne treatment is quite simply one of access. Many traditional acne remedies are topical and you cannot easily apply topical remedies to your own back, this is really a two-person job. Even jobs such as exfoliating can be difficult on the back because you can’t reach behind you. There are accessories such as back scrubbers but these can sometimes be too harsh for acne.
Perspiration causes another problem with back acne treatment because the back tends to sweat more and because it is constantly in contact with clothing that sweat becomes trapped in the clothing and remains in contact with the skin which aggravates the acne. Worse still is that many bags and backpacks irritate the back further causing more sweating and rubbing which can cause erruption of the pimples.
However it’s not all doom and gloom! Having discussed some of the difficulties with back acne treatment in the articles to come I’ll be discussing some ways in which back acne it can be treated effectively.
